David Jevans

CEO and Founder of CipherTrace


David Jevans is the CEO and a founder of CipherTrace. He has more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity and payments and has invented 17 US patented technologies in cybersecurity. Mr. Jevans became involved in cryptocurrencies in 2011 and was an early Bitcoin miner.

Mr. Jevans has founded and sold three cybersecurity and FinTech companies. He co-founded Marble Security, which was acquired by Proofpoint where he then served as Vice President of Mobile Security. Prior to Marble, he co-founded IronKey (acquired by iMation). Previously, Mr. Jevans founded Receipt.com (acquired by Valicert). He has also held senior management positions at cybersecurity companies Tumbleweed Communications and Teros (acquired by Citrix). Mr. Jevans began his career at Apple Computer, leading software development teams on the Mac operating system as well as advising the CEO on Apple’s technology strategy.

Mr. Jevans serves as the chairman of the Anti-Phishing Working Group (www.APWG.org), a consortium of more than 1,500 government agencies, financial services companies, ISPs, law enforcement agencies and technology vendors dedicated to fighting electronic crime.  He frequently speaks on blockchain security, cryptocurrencies and growing the global crypto economy, and electronic fraud and money laundering. In 2019, he became the first Bitcoin expert witness ever appointed by a Canadian court.

He holds a Master of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree, Computer Science, from the University of Calgary, Canada.
